Dear Friends and Supporters,

It is with great pride and excitement that I share a transformative leadership announcement from World Farmers—one that marks a pivotal moment in the history of our organization.

Since stepping into the role of Interim Executive Director last November, I have had the privilege of leading World Farmers through a period of deep reflection, transition, and renewed commitment to our mission. This experience has only strengthened my admiration for the unwavering dedication of our farmers, staff, and supporters who make our work possible.

Today, I am honored to announce that the World Farmers Board of Directors unanimously appointed Amie Avila as our Executive Director, which became effective June 15, 2025. This decision represents not only a change in leadership but a bold step forward in our continued evolution and impact.

Amie has been an integral part of World Farmers since 2020, serving as our Director of Finance and Human Resources. In that role, she has been the steady hand behind much of the organization’s financial and operational success—skillfully navigating budgets, strengthening our administrative infrastructure, and fostering a culture of transparency and accountability. Her thoughtful leadership was especially critical during the financially turbulent period following the federal policy shifts earlier this year, which affected nearly 80% of our funding.

Beyond her technical expertise, Amie’s leadership has touched every facet of our organization. She has played a central role in staff hiring, onboarding, and retention; skillfully addressed complex personnel and farmer-related matters; and helped guide the organization through the departure of our previous Executive Director with grace and determination. Throughout these challenges, Amie has shown a remarkable ability to lead with integrity, clarity, and deep compassion.

Amie’s unwavering commitment to our mission, her strategic mindset, and her vision for a more equitable agricultural system make her exceptionally well-suited to guide World Farmers into its next chapter. Under her leadership, we are confident that World Farmers will continue to grow, strengthen partnerships, and expand opportunities for immigrant, refugee, and historically underserved farmers throughout the region.

As Chair of the Board of Directors, I will remain closely involved in supporting Amie and the organization during this exciting new chapter. We are deeply grateful for your continued trust, partnership, and belief in our shared mission. Please join me in congratulating Amie Avila on her well-deserved appointment. This is truly a milestone worth celebrating—for World Farmers, for our farmers, and for our entire community.
