Winter Melon

Winter melons are large, light green colored gourds that were first grown as a crop in Egypt and is a staple crop in China. The inside is white and has a very mild flavor; for this reason, it is a popular ingredient in soups, where it absorbs the taste of whatever broth it is boiled in.
